Kitty Boo Boo Handmade Wedding - Save The Date

Hi again, welcome to the 4th post in this series about our handmade wedding. (Read 1, 2 & 3)

After setting the date Pete and I talked about where to have the wedding and how we'd let people know. We chose a gorgeous venue we had been to before, actually Pete and his family use to camp there!

We loved the tranquility and beauty of the natural surroundings at Thunderbird Park, Mt Tamborine and were eager to get married there. We knew that with so many friends and family interstate we'd need to let people know with plenty of notice so they could arrange travel and accommodation. We sent out our Save The Date's in January (9 mths ahead of the wedding) so people could get organised, unfortunately for us, the Brisbane floods of 2011 intervened and we needed to send out a second set to many people!

Both Pete and I love to draw and we had a 'dialogue' about who would illustrate it. We agreed to a theme and then decided that I would draw the Save the Date's and he would draw the invitations.

We wanted to incorporate a little bit of flash tattoo as we are both fans, also we wanted swallows as they have been quite symbolic to us (and our little nest). I still wanted to keep the vintage, nouveau style in there and we wanted to keep the colours from my shoes as well. It was sounding like a hodge podge of mess but after a few simple layouts I decided on a swallow style (the same swallow that Pete and I have tattooed on us actually) and then the swallow colours came from the shoes.

Anyway, here it is

Kitty Boo Boo Handmade Wedding - Colour Scheme

We have arrived at post #3. Hi again, and thanks for joining me!

This post is all about the colour scheme! Such an important part of any wedding, as it is usually what dictates everything from shoes to bridesmaids dresses, flowers and linen.

As I stated in my last post, my shoes are the foundation for the colour scheme. They are comprised of vintage hues of Silver Blue, Dusky Rose, Mint Green and Soft Yellow Gold.

I went and found some paint swatches that matched my shoes and began collecting fabric swatches as I intended to make the bridesmaids dresses and my daughters dress as well as the flowers.

These swatches made my life so easy. I carried them around and they were so good for a quick reference!

Here's the results

Kitty Boo Boo Handmade Wedding - The Shoes

Welcome to the second post about our handmade wedding!

As soon as we set a date I knew I needed to find some great shoes. I am a sucker for pair of heels and I wanted the wedding shoes to be a bit different. I'm not really a satin and diamonte girl and to tell you the truth, the shoes meant more to me than the dress!

I wanted blue shoes but I couldn't seem to find the right colour ... until I found these beautiful babies. They have a vintage floral feel and they became the inspiration for the rest of the wedding.

The entire wedding colour scheme stem from these shoes, they are literally the foundation and general vibe!

Kitty Boo Boo Handmade Wedding - The beginning

THE BEGINNING

My beautiful now husband and I have known each other since we were 16. We started dating/going out when we were in Yr 12. We were very serious and crazy in love, we were engaged but we broke up for a little while and eventually got back together a few years later. We moved in together and moved to Melbourne.

We returned to Brisbane and about a year later found out we were expecting. In 2002 we welcomed a beautiful little girl and we became engaged (again). 4 years later  in 2006 we welcomed a beautiful little man.
Our lives together have been rich and full and in 2010 we decided after much discussion with the kids that maybe we would actually get married.

On October 22nd 2011 we finally tied the knot of our 19 year love affair and made our children legitimate in the eyes of the law (and some family members).

I have been inundated since the date was decided, with the making of wedding stuff and the sad passing of a dear Aunt and then the craziness of Christmas and markets, so I haven't been posting at all about the wedding. Crazy I know, since it was such a huge event in our lives, it passed relatively quickly and quietly!

I'd like to share with you over a number of posts the things we made for our wedding. Although not strictly a 100% handmade affair, we used as much of our own creative resources as possible. We reached out to our friends and fellow creatives and put together a wonderful wedding.

January 2010 Photo-A-Day-Challenge Week 2 Review

January 2010 Photo-A-Day-Challenge week in review - week 2

Day 8 - Your sky. I’m at the markets today and just as I took this pic outside my stall I saw the heart shaped cloud. Cool.

Day 9 - Your Daily Routine. Cannot operate without a cup of tea. I love it Grandma style, from a pot complete with cosy and a special spoon. Thanks @petatron for my Vegas Wayne Newton spoon.

Day 10 - Childhood. What could be better for a morning tea surprise snack then a cup full of ice cream with strawberry topping, sprinkles, marshmallows, and a cherry on top. Such a hot day deserves an awesome childhood treat.

Day 11 - Where you sleep.

Day 12 - Close Up. Just my top. I love the swallows

Day 13 - In your bag. Purse made by Sybella. Nurse hairclip made by me, sunnies, pens, deodorant, camera, lots of paper.

Day 14 - what I'm reading. I always read a few books at once. Main fave right now is DK's 77 Shadow St

January 2012 Photo-A-Day-Challenge Week 1 Review

I love Instagram.

I have been participating in fatmumslim's January Photo-a-day-challenge

"If you're on Instagram {or Facebook or even Twitter} you may have noticed a little things doing the rounds called Photo a day challenge {with the hashtag #JANphotoaday}. Thousands of people all over the world are taking photos, using the list above as inspiration and sharing them via social media channels.
If you haven't yet jumped on board, feel free to start now - and either play catch-up or just do from today forward."

I stumbled across the fun on Day 3 but decided to just keep going from there instead of playing catch up.

I have been linking my images with my Tumblr page but thought it might be fun to put a weeks images on here as well.

Hope you like them ...

Week 1 Photo's of Days 3 - 7

The List

Day 3 - Something I adore - the 80’s U2 especially the live at Red Rocks concert. This concert was amazing and I watched it as a kid. It changed how I saw U2 and post punk pop music.

Day 4 - Letterbox. This is one in my local area. At Christmas they dress him in a Santa suit. Made from recycled metal.

Day 5 - Something I wore. I love these shoes heaps! So comfy.

Day 6 - Makes you smile. I love vintage ads. Sometimes they are gobsmackingly awful but sometimes like this one I get a giggle. We all need pine scented fuel to squeeze over the BBQ to impress our friends with our fire mastery.

Day 7 - Favourite. This is my favourite costume I have made. Jack and Sally from a nightmare before Christmas. It only just beat out my ‘Melanie Daniels’ from The Birds costume.

YOU PICK! Help me decide which clothing for girl's and ladie's to make next ...

I get by with a little help from my friends!

I am currently running a competition where you could win a girl's dress (sized 2-10) or some soft, fun, flirty lingerie for you! (sized 8-18)

I can't decide which dress for girl's (sized approx.2 - 10) to run with. I need to restock girl's dresses ASAP so can you please help me narrow it down?
If I stick with one style for now I am able to make more,  meaning more size and fabric choices for you!

I also can't decide which lingerie option to make. Again if I stick with one style for now I am able to make more meaning more size and fabric choices for you!

To enter you need to go to the Kitty Boo Boo facebook page, go to the Photo Album titled YOU PICK, if you leave a comment you will go in to the draw to win one of these in a colour and size of your choice!

If you can, maybe you’d help me spread to word? The more comments I have, the more feedback I have. Then I can draw a winner for the dress/lingerie!

Have fun and THANK YOU!
