Scalloped Bunting Tutorial

Today I was visiting the Sew, Mama, Sew! blog and I found a gorgeous tutorial on making scalloped fabric bunting by Jessie from the Blog Sweet Jessie.

Bunting is so fun and fabric bunting is great because it lasts for years and is easily washed and can be reversible and made from scraps leftover from other sewing projects.

Wow 5 already!

My youngest kitten turned 5 on Sunday. Although I usually LOVE to throw a massive kids party with a theme and loads of friends, master 5 prefers low key and small gatherings. As long as there is cake and someone to play with he's happy.

We decided this year to drag it all to the park and set up there. That way the kids have the playground and we can minimise the clean up!

Like most boys his age Ben 10 is one of his favourite things of all time, so with that in mind my love and I made this birthday cake the night before ...

I have had such a busy month that there hasn't been any time to blog for the last 3 weeks!

I am going to dedicate this entry to all the delicious treats I got for my birthday

I wont scribble too much, just post the awesome pics of the FANTASTIC delights I was lucky enough to receive from my beautiful family and friends ...

Pete was in Sydney recently and knowing I am a FREAK for owls and that I love photography and independent work, he bought me this photo from a gallery ...

My sweet sister who is awesomely talented painted this portrait of me! I also LOVE LOVE L-O-V-E it!



I received some beautiful cards ...



My friend Lucy sent me these fabulous Owlies ...




I was also given a beautiful wool blanket/wrap/pashmina, a bottle of tequila with a scorpian, some amazing perfumes, some spotlight vouchers and so much more!

My bestie over in the UK sent me a bottle of bubbles and some sweet orchids! I had a great day and fabulous party that night ... even if I don't remember a great deal of it!

3 oh it's a magic number

Friday was my little man's 3rd Birthday.

He is totally enamoured with yellow at the moment ... so yellow it was!

We woke up and opened presents (yellow monster trucks, books and dvd's)
Went to McDonald's for breakfast (Yellow arches)
Came home and baked a cake

I asked Lauren from Raspberry Pink to make me some monkeys for to put on the cake - they are AMAZING



Watched our new birthday dvd's (Hairy McLairy - yellow case of course!)
Ate dinner with our family and then CAKE! (Big Yellow Cake!)





The next day we went to the Pine Hills Festival and celebrated with more family and friends there.



I made him his own special birthday T



We saw Dora the Explorer and Boots, we ate lots of carnival food, went on rides and shopped at the markets.
It was a great Birthday!

BrisStyle Meet Up - March

Today we had a meet up to coincide with BrisStyle's 1st Birthday ... YAY

I love these ladies, and I love being in a room full of creative spirits and fun people swapping ideas, notes and .... GIFTS

At this months meet up Cat suggested we do a swap, much to the pleasure of just about everybody!

I was fortuitous enough to receive (pick) this gorgeous girl handmade by Sam from Jetta's Nest

She reminded me of an elvish/faerie lass, so I have named her Aubrey whose name means "Noble" and Elvish translation is Arwen (Ahrwen). She has purple hair and emerald eyes, looks like a healer, and her eyes seem to sparkle more at night!

(Funny thing :: Sam had been wanting a pair of KBB clips, guess who picked them out of the lucky dip? ... )

PS ... Here's what I made for the swap along on Sunday

I love to find stuff ...

So I had a birthday last week and although Pete was away in Perth and I had to work that night so I couldn't catch up with my girls - I had a great day. I spent the morning wandering through op shops and then over to Chermside Westfield.

I love having a birthday at this time of yr. Most everyone who knows me knows that unless they have something specific in mind for me a voucher is gold because of the stocktake sales!

I found a fantastic saucepan, a gorgeous hat, and a few other bibs and bobs that I Adooorrrrrree (little hearts everywhere).

I also got a cool card from Kimothy (my bestie in the UK)

Pete and the kids got me a *magical* button/badge maker so Erin and I will be busy making some coolio pins to wear and sell at the markets!

I have the beautiful Betty Blue (see previous blog), I have a handful of quirky gifts I love and some pretty fabulous ppl in my world.

Life is looking pretty golden.

The only thing I could use to make it even better is some more time to actually get creative!
My head is bursting with ideas and my fingers twitch to get them made but time is scarce here and I have about 1 day a week to actually do anything for myself because of work and family commitments. ;( Sad face. I'm actually turning down jobs ---- arrggghhhh

Oh well ... maybe if the markets kick off and I can get back on ebay and etsy I can do less hours at work and work more from home.
