I am currently running a competition where you could win a girl's dress (sized 2-10) or some soft, fun, flirty lingerie for you! (sized 8-18) 

I can't decide which dress for girl's (sized approx.2 - 10) to run with. I need to restock girl's dresses ASAP so can you please help me narrow it down?

If I stick with one style for now I am able to make more,  meaning more size and fabric choices for you!

Determining your Vintage paper Pattern Size

I was over at Craft Gossip today entering Trish Goodfield's How To Teach Art and Craft (enter by clicking link or pic). Trish is from TrishAlan Designs

Craft Gossip is an awesome blog and I suggest you pop over and visit. They have reviews, tutorials, giveaways and so much more on all crafts!

So I found this post about Bramcost Publications and their guide: How to Determine Your Vintage Size. A brilliant and conclusive chart determining your correct vintage paper pattern size. For adults and children! Sometimes we find a brilliant sewing or crochet or knitting pattern and there is no size guide. How do you know it will fit? A commercial size 10 in AU varies to a commercial 10 in the US, what do you think might happen if you throw 30 years into the mix.

Mar at Bramcost has provided a post on how to measure yourself and then compare that to a chart she has posted with the corresponding Vintage size.

Thanks Mar for taking the frustration out of using beautiful old patterns.

Hidie Hi from some little creepy cute guys ... these boys are buddies which is good because I'm sure Sam will have them having duals and wars ... I love watching the kids play with toys I make and usually they're a bit cute so it's even cooler that both Sam and Erin like these guys too ...



I love the creepy side of my crafting, having been a goth for many years I still have a hankering for black stuff and lace etc every now and then so I love Halloween because it means that side of me can be expressed with free will



I know we don't really celebrate Halloween here in Australia and I know it's actually at the wrong time of year for us too but I do so love it ... the kids and I will dress up and hand out treats and watch The Nightmare Before Christmas (and when they go to bed I'll watch my beloved Donnie Darko)

After a hectic week of madly running around town tracking down my much needed fabric I finally located some and after dragging it all home I managed to outdo my record and waved my magic wand and made 45 dresses and skirts in 3 days. My machines are now in need of servicing!


The dresses have been gaining some interest and although I have been making and wearing them for 7 years it seems they have finally found a little piece of limelight.

On Sunday Pete helped me to run the stall and I am so glad he was there because we were on a corner (yay) but I needed to do a bit of rearranging to accomodate that but it was great. Then after we finished setting up it seemed our neighbours had decided not to show up. The events manager asked us if we would be able to spread out and fill the space which we managed to do quite easily (didn't realise I had so much stuff!)

We had a fun hectic crazy day ... even though one lady tried to bargain down a $95 silk dress, with hand embroidered flowers and beading to $30 which I had to refuse ... she seemed a little cross.

Most people seem to understand that the Young Designer Markets are about Independent QLD Designers, who (mostly) have not mass produced cheap articles.

I hand make with care and a bit of love everything I take with me. I source the fabrics or parts, I create and design the patterns or clips, I cut, pin and sew everything.

My prices are relative and fair, they are in fact quite cheap because I don't have the overheads associated with a store, but I cannot sell a dress for less than the fabric cost.
