GIVEAWAY ... RE-read brooch

I know I have said it before ... but I LOVE RE-read ... it is a funky quirky blog by Hayley that makes me giggle when I need it and always has awesome imagery.

She's also really talented and is giving away a brooch of your choice ....YOUR CHOICE from her etsy shop.

She has a giveaway every week so make sure you stop in and have a read ... a RE-read even

Monkey's, kitchens, locks and cracks of dawn ...

We have a thief! My son likes to tell us how he is a big boy now. He believes he has the right to decide what he wants to eat for dinner ... fair enough ... but this mama ain't makin' more than one dinner per family per night now that we all have teeth.

So ... this particular 2 yr old going on 3 goes to bed with no dinner ( he happily takes this option) ... however he wakes in the morning ... STARVING.

Pete found him the first time ... with the chocolate sprinkles ... oh isn't that funny we said.

The second time it was a WHOLE family block of chocolate ... that's naughty kiddo (sigh)

Then it was the yoghurt ... not so bad ... except this particular boy is lactose intolerant.

So we got locks ... just baby safe locks hoping this is a phase
The fourth time it was the lolly jar (from next to the microwave - my eye level!)

Then it was the box of mini croissants ... and these two times he is even hiding behind the couch so we can't see him eating it if we walk into the room.

So now at night we have to make sure locks are closed, clear the benches, hide all the stools and pray he doesn't manage to find something to climb up high ... we have been leaving a banana on the bench ... little monkey

Green Bags ... and Pink, Purple and Black ones too!

Here are some of the green bags I've been wipping up ... Calico bags will be following soon too but for now here are some non woven polyprop bags with excellent appliques on them just for you and your market/shopping/library/gift bag useage!

Let me know what you think

My hands are itchin' to be stitchin' ...

I have once more been bitten by the embroidery bug.

It happens

I seem to change my craft focus as often as the weather and seasons.

One moment all I can do is hairclips, next all I want to do is sew, next it's all about embroidery!

So here we are, me, my hoop, some thread and the idiot box.

Art Nouveau is magic

I have BIG LOVE for Art Nouveau.

It inspires me, delights me and presses a multitude of buttons I wont go into here.
From architecture, artwork, jewellery, and more it is just fabulous.
It seems to have a mercurial magic that gives it a timelessness. It is past present and future, it's mythical and supernatural as well as futuristic.

If you are new to Art Nouveau it's a movement at the turn of the 20th Century. The term is french and means 'New Art', it is also known as Jugendstil, German for 'youth style', named after the magazine Jugend, which promoted it.
A reaction to Academic Artof the 19th century, it is characterized by organic, especially floral and other plant-inspired motifs, as well as highly-stylized, flowing curvilinear forms.

Art Nouveau is an approach to design according to which artists should work on everything from architecture to furniture, making art part of everyday life.

Markets and More ... Southbank and HEX#000000

I'm so busy ... argggh

I am not going to get everything done so I have to work out what really want to finish and find some of those minutes that go missing every day so I can actually get the stuff done before Friday!

I'm working tomorrow so that gives me about 4 hours total tomorrow after I get home and sort the kids out, and some of Saturday to madly finish the dresses and skirts for Sundays Markets which will be here ... click here for a map to get there.

It's a specialty market for Kids, Mums and Bubs. There will be a few BrisStylettes there so come on down to Southbank on Sunday 22nd and grab a beautiful piece of creative fun from one of the many stall holders.

I want to make another batch of hairclips for Friday night (March 20th) which is going to be a bit of fun! I'll be having a mini stall at HEX#000000 ... which will be held at the Globe on Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley. Here's a map

BRISBANE'S GOTHIC UNDERGROUND CLUB

7 DJS | MARKET STALLS | AIR-CON NEW MUSIC | OLD FAVES | PRIZES

DOORS 8pm - $9.50

I know ... they are both a bit different aren't they :)

Having been a bit of HC goth in the old days HEx should be fun ... looking forward to it!

Anyway, I better get back to it, I'm putting together a 'look book' of all my goth clothes to take with me as Friday's gig is a small space and I wont be carting everything.

Adios ...

Gouache to go go ...

Paintings

Finally I have decided to list these wee pics in my etsy store, I haven't listed any art in a long time, I miss painting and if they sell I'll definitely get myself motivated to do some more.

I painted these in 2007, but love them and couldn't part for a while ... ;P

Shadow Shot Sunday #6

Today I decided to include shadow shots taken only from inside my house ...

Then as I was walking down the hall past the computer room (a room because we hide it behind a screen) and I saw this treasure ...
the kids had been playing in there earlier and had left behind this eye candy ... I just had to happy snap it

Check out more Shadow Shots on Hey Harriet's blog ...

BrisStyle Meet Up - March

BrisStyle is an awesome group ... I love being a member

Today we had a meet up to coincide with BrisStyle's 1st Birthday ... YAY

I love these ladies, and I love being in a room full of creative spirits and fun people swapping ideas, notes and .... GIFTS

At this months meet up Cat suggested we do a swap, much to the pleasure of just about everybody!

I was fortuitous enough to receive (pick) this gorgeous girl handmade by Sam from Jetta's Nest

She reminded me of an elvish/faerie lass, so I have named her Aubrey whose name means "Noble" and Elvish translation is Arwen (Ahrwen). She has purple hair and emerald eyes, looks like a healer, and her eyes seem to sparkle more at night!

(Funny thing :: Sam had been wanting a pair of KBB clips, guess who picked them out of the lucky dip? ... )

DON'T FORGET to visit the BrisStyle Blog to meet this months lovelies and their giveaways ...
